Delete Your Messy Times Data

How to ask Tom Bourlet, the developer of Messy Times, to locate and delete data associated with your use of the app.

What Messy Times stores

Messy Times does not require or provide a conventional user account. If you use Multiplayer, the service may create an anonymous technical identity and store your display name, room and player identifiers, temporary game state and actions, and preset reactions.
If you allow optional analytics, PostHog receives limited app-usage events linked to a provider-generated anonymous identifier. Sentry may receive crash and error diagnostics when something goes wrong.

How to request deletion

Email contact@messytimes.app with the subject line “Messy Times data deletion request”. Include only the information that may help locate the relevant data:
The display name you used in Multiplayer.
The approximate date and time you played.
The room code, if you still have it and the room is no longer active.
Your device or platform, if it may help identify the request.
Do not send passwords, authentication tokens, sensitive information or more personal information than is needed. Messy Times will make a reasonable effort to locate and delete data that can be safely matched to you.

What can be deleted

Data that can be reliably located may include multiplayer display names, room or player records, gameplay data, anonymous backend identities, and associated analytics or diagnostic records where the available identifiers and provider tools allow them to be matched.

Cleanup and limitations

Expired multiplayer room, participant and game records are automatically cleaned up under the existing room lifecycle. Preset reactions are removed on a shorter cleanup cycle.
Local-only preferences and remembered information can be removed by clearing the app’s data or uninstalling it. Uninstalling does not necessarily delete data already sent to backend services.
Previously transmitted analytics and crash data may remain for the retention period applied by PostHog or Sentry.
Anonymous Supabase authentication identities are not automatically deleted on a fixed schedule.
Because Messy Times uses anonymous technical identities rather than registered accounts, historical data cannot always be reliably matched from the information a requester can provide.
